After placing ads in Auto Trader, Truck Trader and Ebay, I wound up selling the truck to a guy who was a car wash customer who fell in love with it after driving by it each day!  I sold it a week before Emily was born!  Here is the original ebay ad that ran in August 2003:

No Reserve Auction!

My childhood is officially over.  My wife will be having our baby soon, so I must sell my beloved truck.  Hopefully, there is someone out there who will appreciate the modifications done to this 2001 Chevy Silverado LS Regular Cab Sportside Short Bed 5.3 liter V8.  The truck was special ordered and picked up at Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge, CA in November 2000.  Currently it has only 22,000 miles and the original warranty is good until November 2003.  Here is a list of what I did to make this truck my own.  Click on the highlighted links for pictures and manufacturer's websites.  Press backspace or the back button on your browser to return to this auction page.

Stereo System

My audio, navigation, and security system was custom designed by SOUNDS GOOD, one of the best installers in the country.  I have almost $7,000 invested and it is quite comprehensive including the following components:

Check out the Eclipse website for more details about the Commander

Eclipse 55040 CD Tuner with Remote

Eclipse 5083 8 Disc CD Changer

Eclipse 9902 GPS unit for Commander

Eclipse 9002 Commander

Rockford Fosgate H800A4 200 X 4 Watts Amplifier

Diamond Audio S600s 6.5" Hex Component Speakers

JL Audio 10W3D Center Seat Subwoofer

Eclipse 9820n Nokia Hands Free Kit

Hirschman MCA819 Hidden Cellular Antenna

Alpine SEC-8028 4 Button Security System

Micro BBW2 Back up Battery Siren

DEI 530t Window Control Module

DEI 551t Remote Start Module

Interstate AGM-D750DT Optima Yellow Battery

Isaac Goren, the owner of SOUNDS GOOD, used many of the same components in his own car.  You will absolutely love this system.  Everything is voice activated, including phone and navigation system.  Security system has remote engine start as well as window control.  I have receipts and instruction manuals for all components.  You must check it out!

Suspension, Wheels, and Tires

I wanted the truck to look damn good, but I also needed to occasionally carry some odds and ends in the bed.  My suspension work was professionally done by Valley Pacific Frame and Suspension in Canoga Park, CA.  Wheels and tires I got from Kenny at Northridge Tire.  I am not into the rubber band tire look and wanted to keep some decent ride integrity, so about $3,000 bought me the following:

DJM Lower Control Arms in the front for a nice 2" drop

The rear is about 3" lower with Hangers and Velvet Ride Shackles

18 X 9 Ultra Moto Chrome Wheels

Pirelli Scorpion Zero 285/50/18 Tires

Bed Cover and Liner

I've seen some bad bed covers in my day, so rather than saving a few bucks, I invested about $1,000 to install a SNUGTOP Snuglid and a BEDRUG bedliner.  The snuglid comes off pretty easily if you ever need to carry some tall stuff in the bed and the Bedrug is washable, but mostly needs just an occasional vacuum.

Exterior Trim and Accessories

Everyone has their own ideas, but I like the subtle things on the exterior that accent the truck without making it look too overdone.  That is why I chose to do the following things to the outside of my truck even though it set me back over $2,000:

Steel Roll Pan

Shaved Tailgate

Chrome Steps

Painted Tahoe Door Handles

Clear Corners

Chrome Tahoe Grille with Chrome Silverado Inset and Billet Bowtie

Street Scene Front Bumper Cover Generation II

Piaa Fog Lamps

Interior

The only modifications in the interior of the truck are the carbon fiber door inserts and dashboard, and the white face gauges.  Once again subtle, but respectable.  The seats are the stock LS cloth and I have found them to be very comfortable.  Fortunately, I was able to get away with spending less than $1,000 in the interior.

Engine Modifications

Believe it or not, I did nothing to the engine other than drop in a K&N Filtercharger air filter.  The 5.3 liter engine is quite powerful with 285 HP and 325 FT-LB Torque.  It has the locking differential and traction control and basically hauls butt in stock form.

The Imperfections

Everyone advertises on Ebay about the fabulous condition that their vehicle is in, but let's face it...stuff happens.  As the owner of a car wash, my truck has been impeccably maintained, so I am proud to point out every little imperfection in my truck.  Most of these items you probably would never notice yourself, but I just want you to know, so that there are no surprises later.

Scrapes on the bottom of the front bumper cover

Scratches on the top of the tailgate (covered by the bed cover)

A few chips on top of the bed cover

One wheel has some minor curb rash

One fog lamp was cracked and replaced and is not exactly the same as the other

The Bottom Line

I have invested over $14,000 in customized parts, accessories and installation.  This truck is for you if you like sport trucks, appreciate a custom look and enjoy the firm ride and handling of a lowered truck.  Do not bid on this truck if you are seeking a cushy cruiser!

You are welcome to come see and drive the vehicle in Canoga Park, CA.  Please email me with any questions.  I would be happy to send you any specific pictures if you would like to see something that I did not show you in this auction.
